  The Friar's Head at Akebar is
a typical stone-built Dale pub situated at the entrance to the Park.
As expected, you will find a well-stocked bar, hand-pulled Yorkshire
ales, an interesting choice of wines and a traditional blazing log
fire to sit by when the weather is chill. The view overlooking the
rolling countryside is beautiful and a game of bowls, croquet or pitanque
may be played on the lawn.

The unexpected is the large cloister, facing south, tropical with vines and masses of lushly growing plants, amongst which guests eat by candlelight in the most romantic dining room in the Dales. our food is freshly cooked to order, using delicious local produce in season and we are open for lunch and dinner 7 days each week. |

| The Friar's Head is highly regarded
by local people and we do not wish our holiday makers to be disappointed;
