The West Wing Chambers of the Friar’s Head at Akebar offer excellent private
rooms for lunch or dinner parties of 12 to 60 guests interlinked as a comfortable,
elegant suite with cloakrooms adjacent.
Between the library and billiard room is the fabulous Vaulted Hall, painted by
Katie Bird, in amazing trompe l’oeil fantasy landscapes with classical figures
and naughty satyrs, who roamed the woods and mountains in Greek Mythology
(very difficult to describe magic in words, you are very welcome to see for yourself!)
Food may be chosen in advance from specially selected menus and music for dancing
after dinner may be arranged if wished.

Wedding Parties
Wedding Breakfast
The West Wing Suite offers private interlinked rooms for parties of
12 - 60 guests and includes the vaulted Fresco Hall, Library, Billiard Room
and Cloak Rooms with a maximum capacity of 60 guests for formal dining.
There is no additional hire charge for the exclusive use of all The West
Wing for your Wedding Breakfast up to 6pm.
The arrangement of the tables is flexible to suit the number of guests.
The table seating plan and place cards to be arranged by yourselves.
Evening Reception
A follow-on evening reception may be arranged using the West Wing Suite of
rooms for up to 100 people. An additional charge of £150 will be made for the
evening use of the rooms up to 12 midnight.
Evening food choices to be made from our selected buffet menus and charged
for a minimum of 80% of the numbers attending. Our chef will be please to
discuss your evening requirements with you.
Disco Music and Live Music to be arranged by The Friar’s Head. Our
music system may not be used for your own CDs for dancing. However, if you
wish to play your own CDs during the reception our staff will arrange this for
you. Alternatively we are able to arrange for an excellent pianist to play during
the reception. Price available on request.
Wines for the reception, table wines and toast wines are suggested at varying prices.
We do not offer corkage on wines.
Tablecloths white or green with matching linen napkins.
Flowers Room flower arrangements will be supplied by The Friar’s Head.
Table Flower arrangements. We suggest these are arranged by yourselves to suit
your colour choices or we can recommend a local florist.
Celebration helium balloons supplied and inflated by The Friar’s Head will be
charged at £2 each. If you wish to bring your own choice of balloons we will inflate
them with helium gas for 50p each. Please allow time in advance of your arrival.
Booking Arrangements on first contact we will make a provisional
reservation for the preferred date which we will hold for two weeks. When you make
your decision we will meet to discuss the details of your party.
At this stage we shall require a 50% non-returnable deposit based on your numbers to
secure the booking. Your choice of menu and final numbers dining will be
required two weeks before your party.
